Leaders Plateau United were held to a 1 – 1 draw by visiting Rivers United in a MatchDay 36 fixture of the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, held at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Sunday.

The hosts snatched a late minute draw when Peter Eneji’s 89th minute goal canceled out a 14th minute goal by River United’s Emeka Ogbugh. Despite the major slip, the Tin City boys remain on top with 63 points, four points above their nearest challenger, MFM FC who are on 59 points.

In Umuahia, MFM FC of Lagos fluffed the opportunity to capitalize on Plateau United’s slip as they went down 1 – 0 to Abi Warriors. Arinze Nwangwu scored the only goal in the 67th minute.

New Boys and the already relegated Remo Stars suffered a fourth home defeat this season after losing 1 – 2 to Champions, Rangers International in Shagamu. Striker, Bobby Clement scored in each half to get a brace for Rangers before Akeem Taiwo pulled one back for the Sky-Blue Stars.

It has been a challenging moment for Remo Stars in their first ever top-flight football. The Sky-Blue Stars have won just three of their last 21 NPL games, losing 14 in the process.

At the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, two-time African Champions, Enyimba kept up their chase to secure a continental ticket with a whopping 4 – 0 victory over Wikki Tourists.

Ex-Youth International, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu gave the Peoples Elephants the lead through an 11th minute penalty. Stephen Chukwude doubled the lead on the 19th minute while Chinoso Okonkwo made it 3 – 0 nine minutes later. Stanley Dimgba sealed the win on the 75th minute with the fourth goal.

The Aba Elephants remained leveled on 57 points and same goal-difference with Akwa United in just two games left.

In Maiduguri, relegation-threatened Shooting Stars held El-Kanemi Warriors to a 1 – 1 draw to climb out of the drop zone narrowly on goal difference. 3SC’s Abayomi Adebayo stoppage time goal canceled out Ibrahim Babangida’s 48th minute goal for the Borno Armies.

Earlier on Friday, Akwa United beat Lobi Stars 2 – 1 in Uyo.

In other results, Sunshine Stars lost 2 – 0 to Katsina United; Gombe United recorded a 2 – 1 win over visiting ABS FC of Ilorin. Nasarawa United edged out Kano Pillars by 1 – 0 in Lafia.

The last game of the week, Niger Tornadoes vs IfeanyiUbah was postponed till Monday due to heavy downpour in Minna.
