Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, clubs are having a busy mid-season transfer window ahead of the second stanza of the league which kicks off this weekend.

Sunshine Stars of Akure on Thursday announced the signings of eight additional players to boost their chances of a good top flight finish ahead of the second stanza.

Making a return to Owena Waves is academy alumnus, Dayo Ojo who had a brief stint with Sudanese top side and CAF Champions League Campaigner, AL Merrick.

Also joining the Akure based club is Beninese import, Durand Rock Thuram, an experienced defender from Curepipe Starlight SC of Mauritania.

Other players announced are Isaac Hale Hele from El-Kanemi Warriors, Seun Olulayo and Michael Okoyoh from Abia Warriors, Ike ThankGod from Enyimba, Ezekiel Thompson from Wikki Tourists, former 3SC winger, Ebitimi Agogo and Jolly Osas, a winger from Rangers International.

The Owena waves have endured a frustrating season finishing 15th on the log in the first stanza with just a point above the relegation zone.

The club has also had her share of crises as players once protested against the management.

The poor performance also led to the replacement of the former coach, Kayode Olujohungbe with Coach Austin Eguavoen, a Former Super Eagles handler.

In the same Vein, Akwa United Football Club of Uyo have unveiled five new players to reinforce their team ahead of the second stanza.

The players were presented to the media at an unveiling ceremony that was done at Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo on Wednesday with the details of the new players released including shirt numbers assigned to each of them.

The five players comprising three strikers, one midfielder and one goalkeeper include Edem Akakatang, Gabriel Okechukwu and Harmony Ikande (strikers) Christopher Lolo (midfielder) and Ojo Olorunleke (goalkeeper).

Edem Akakatang joined Akwa United from Akwa Starlets for the rest of the season. Akakatang will wear jersey number 27.

Gabriel Okechukwu was signed from FC Karpaty of Ukraine for the rest of the season. He has been assigned Jersey number 25.

Harmony Ikande joined the Promise Keepers from Aris Limassol of Cyprus and will play till the end of the season with Jersey number 19.

Midfielder, Christopher Lolo, signed from Katsina United for the remaining part of the current season. He will wear jersey number 32.

And goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke signed from Sunshine Stars of Akure till the end of the season. He has been assigned Jersey number 30.

The Promise Keepers were impressive in the first stanza after a slow start and are now fifth on the table but with just eight wins in 19 matches.
