United States President, Barack Obama through a phone call with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya late this week promised to work with Kenya to support refugees.
In a statement released by the White House about the telephone conversation , the US President spoke about the need for strong international support for refugees living in the East African country.
The two presidents “agreed that the United States and Kenya would work closely together on this issue, to better ensure that the needs of refugees and host communities are met”.
On the other hand, “President Kenyatta reiterated that Kenya will continue to respect the dignity and safety of refugees in Kenya and comply with its international legal obligations,” added the statement.
In Dadaab, Kenya, there are over 300,000 refugees living in five camps sites hosted by UNHCR.
