The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly divided into three factions.
According to Herald.ng, the three factions of the People Democratic Party held congresses across the 20 local government areas in the state on the 5th of May.
The separated factions have since the divide been led by the State Chairman of the party, Mr. Bayo Dayo; former House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, and a member of House of Representatives, Ladi Adebutu, respectively.
The faction led by Adebutu held its congress at the Centenary Hall which had a distance of about 200 metres away from the Ake Palace where Bankole’s faction held theirs. Dayo’s faction held its at the Igbore Town Hall in Igbore.
Even with recent developments, some of the new executives of the factions have expressed regret over the decision of the party in the state to divide. They have since called on the national body to delve into the crisis and help with re-uniting the divided factions.
Meanwhile, the new sets of executives from the various factions all claimed to be the confirmed representatives of the party in the state.
