The Ogun State government today, started a widespread demolition of illegal structures, at the Sagamu interchange along the Lagos/Ibadan section of the expressway.

The exercise was carried out by officials of the state’s Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning. They claimed the demolition projected a reconstruction of the area as it has been designed for industrial development.

Speaking on the demolition, the Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mr. Adebola Adeife, said that the ministry had served the occupants of the illegal structures notice of eviction but have since then, refused to vacate the area.

According to him, the illegal structures surpasses the 70 metres restriction for the road expansion and were also within the 1.5 kilometres acquisition of the Ogun State government.

Mr. Adeife advised people looking to buy land not to buy along the major highways in the state without first verifying from the ministry.
