President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday congratulated Prof. Tam David-West on his 80th birthday anniversary, and commended his steadfastness and forthrightness on issues of good governance, democracy and human rights.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.
While congratulating the eminent academic, as he turns 80 years on Aug. 26, the President saluted David-West’s commitment to the unity of Nigeria, “especially when some seem to easily give up on the project of building one great nation’’.
Buhari recalled, with fond memories, his long-term relationship with the elder statesman, when the latter served as Minister of Petroleum from 1984-1985.
The president assured the octogenarian that his place in “Nigeria’s history is guaranteed for the statesmanship, fearlessness, intellectual depth, resourcefulness and versatility that he brought into public discourse”.
He prayed that the Almighty God would continue to grant the former minister good health and more fruitful years of service to his fatherland.
