Remo Stars have gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). This came after the Sky Blue stars defeated the Redeem Church’s City of David United 2 – 0 in the penultimate Nigeria National League (NNL) match played at Agege Stadium, Lagos, last weekend.
The victory took Remo Stars to the top of the NNL Division B1 table with 28 points from 13 matches and thus assured their promotion to the top flight even if they lose their final match of the season at home.
They will host Unicem Rovers in a dead rubber clash at the Dipo Dino Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, to wrap up their NNL campaign.
Coached by former International, Nduka Ugbade, Remo Stars have been exceptional since the beginning of the season having lost once in the campaign. Remo’s eight wins is the highest by any side in all the four divisions of the NNL.
With Ikorodu United already relegated and MFM FC walking a tight rope to survive, Remo Stars appears to be the only consolation for Nigerian League fans in the Lagos/Ogun axis towards the next football season.
Established in 2004 and registered in 2010, Remo Stars FC is based in Ogun State. Their club office is located in Ketu Area of Lagos State. Remo Stars won the 2015 edition of the Federation Club Cup in Ogun State.
