Two weeks after 25 years old British singer Rita Ora left Jay Z’s record label, Roc Nation, she has signed a worldwide recording deal with Atlantic Records.
The president of Atlantic Records U.K., Ben Cook who also represents amazing artistes like Birdy, Ed Sheeran, Marina etc. confirmed that Ms. Ora signed on Monday.
Ben Cook said about Ora: “First and foremost she’s a great singer who’s hugely passionate about music and I’m delighted to welcome her to Atlantic Records.
“We look forward to getting in the studio with her and making an incredible album.”
Ora hasn’t released an album since her 2012 debut.
In December 2015, Ora filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation seeking departure from the label as her contract violated California law due to the “seven-year rule” and claims she had been “orphaned” by the label.
Late January 2016, Roc Nation filed a counter-complaint against Ora calling for the return of $2.3 million in promotions and damages on the four remaining records in her then contract.
Despite the cases filed, the singer and label finally parted ways June 8 with a settlement.
With her new contract, Ora looks forward to better days in her music career. “The next chapter is going to be incredible!” she said via Instagram.
