Nigeria has recorded a major injury blow, ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier, against Cameroon in Uyo, after Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi withdrew from the game on account of a thigh muscle strain.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, said at the weekend that Iwobi, 21, has been ruled out of the World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon as a result of the injury, which will keep him out till the second week of September.

He was to join the Eagles’ training camp in Uyo on Monday after he’d featured for Arsenal in a Premier League game at Liverpool on Sunday.

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has however called up CSKA Moscow striker, Aaron Samuel, as a quick replacement for Iwobi.

Aaron, who was placed on standby by the Eagles last week will make his return to the Super Eagles, after being left out for about two years, after he played under the last, Coach Stephen Keshi.
