In an attempt to restructure the transportation sector, the Senate has begun to find alternative ways, one of which is re-enacting the Nigerian Railway Corporation Act. This is to remove the hindrance in the development of an efficient rail transit system in the country and revive it back to use.
A public hearing held in Abuja, was aimed at developing a practical and well-structured framework that can take pride in being at par with international standard practices.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Land Transport, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, at the public hearing said the exercise would on completion set the Nigerian railway sector on the path of positive development.
At the end of the hearing, Senate President Bukola Saraki stated that the senate would have no option but to speedily review and pass the bill.
