Football is an unpredictable sport, even more the English Premier League (EPL), deemed the world’s most competitive.

A rare Friday night fixture in the EPL saw Southampton face-off with Manchester United in both teams’ second match of the new season and as expected, the bigger team won.

Manchester United, the bigger team, playing at home at Old Trafford, with returnee world’s most expensive player, Paul Pogba, in the line-up, and in front of an excited crowd, had a lot to prove and well, they did.

The crowd’s excitement wasn’t only for seeing Pogba make a return to Manchester United, it was also about their team’s impressive form under new manager, Jose Mourinho, and new striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s ruthlessness in front of goal since joining on free transfer from PSG.

Manchester United whose attack was spearheaded on the night by Ibrahimovic did not let the crowd down as they won the match by two goals to nothing.

Though Man. U came out as the eventual winner, they performed to the disappointment of their fans in many departments of the game dominated by Southampton.

Mourinho will be demanding a more rounded performance from his team when next they take to the field, especially against better opponents.
