In a failed attempt to blow up worshipers in a mosque in the Sulaimanti area of Maiduguri, Borno state, a suicide bomber has killed himself.

Sulaimanti, a satellite residential area to the south of the capital city of Borno State was last attacked late December last year.

The suicide bomber was allegedly spotted around the mosque at about 5:45am local time while worshipers were saying their morning prayers. Upon being spotted, suspicions were raised and the bomber retreated and later on detonated the explosives targeting worshipers coming out of the mosque.

The attack led to the death of the assailant and left four other injured.

Soldiers and bomb experts reported arrived at the scene not long after, detonating the remaining explosives and  dispersed the crowd pulled in by the incident.
