Nigerian pop star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has released an official statement to clear his name in the death of his friend, Tagbo Umeike, a graduate of Lagos State University.
The music star, through his legal adviser, Norrison Quakers, said he was never arrested by the police as some media houses reported; rather he made himself available for questioning. He added that his statement to the police was not incoherent as also reported by some media houses.
The statement reads in part, “Our client maintains that he has not in any way lied about what he knows about the unfortunate incident, neither has his statement to the police been incoherent as unfortunately being presented in the media.”
The singer also released CCTV footage from the Shisha lounge where he saw the deceased last before the tragic incident happened.
Recall that Nollywood actress, Caroline Danjuma accused Davido, of having a hand in the death of Tagbo, whom she initially claimed is her brother.
The actress stated that the music star let Tagbo die in his car before dumping his body in the hospital.
She also alleged that Davido and his crew ran away from the General Hospital while hiding their faces to avoid detection and returned to the club to continue partying.
The police who had claimed Davido’s initial statement was a lie are yet to respond to the statement from the singer’s camp.
