The most controversial piece of clothing ever worn by women has got to be the leggings/pantyhose/tights/stockings.
Hosiery has been one of the most provocative pieces of lingerie for women from time immemorial. It probably has something to do with all that visible yet not so accessible skin showing down the lower body region.
For women with attractive legs, the hosiery can be the number one lingerie accessory.Even as a staple wardrobe piece, it is important not to wear it like it isn’t meant to be worn.
Here are the best ways to wear leggings, pantyhose, tights and stockings:
First, you must understand that leggings, pantyhose, stockings and tights are classified under hosiery, and hosiery – referred to as leg wear – describes garments worn directly on the feet and legs.
Next, you must know that there are numerous types of hosiery but let’s stick to the four most common ones and the differences between them:
1. Leggings are hosiery made of thicker material that can be worn alone like pants sometimes, although largely depending on just how thick the material is. It is different from the other types of hosiery which are stocking – like because those other types cover the toes like socks. Leggings, just like the name, can sometimes reach the ankle or shorter and are best worn with blouses or gowns that are too short to be worn alone or too long to wear with jeans. The key is to pair leggings with anything that covers your buttocks, because no matter how thick a pair is, they are no match for jeans.
2. Tights are kind of like leggings but they cover the toes instead. They are most times made of thicker fabric and are best used under your clothes to keep warm. Tights can be worn alone but under a gown – preferably short – and with closed-toe shoes not peep-toes or sandals or slippers. Tights are also sometimes referred to as the British equivalent of the American pantyhose.
3. Pantyhose is sometimes called tights in British versions, but is lighter than actual tights. It is mostly worn as an undergarment and as far as provocative hosiery goes, pantyhose takes the gold prize as it covers the leg but only so much so the skin still shows underneath. It can be worn under a gown – short or long – or a skirt – short or long. But just like tights, NEVER alone, and never with anything other than closed-toed shoes.
4. Stockings are the opposite of everything mentioned above. They are just as the name implies; Socks! Except, they’re a bit longer than the average socks and vary greatly in texture and style. The more varied, the sluttier and provocative. Making it the number one provocative lingerie accessory ever created. There are all sorts of stockings and then can be worn just like tights and pantyhose but never like leggings. The only thing to look out for when wearing stockings is to make sure the top, that is, wherever the end of the stockings reach, whether it is your knee or your thigh, doesn’t show under your clothes. That is, unless you’re pairing it with a seductive piece of lingerie, then you can pair the stockings with a garter to hold it up. There are so many different kinds of stockings; thigh-highs, knee-highs, compression stockings and many more.
