Manchester United fans were all over social media kicking Paul Pogba following his uninspiring performance in the Premier League against Liverpool on Monday.
Thursday night when Man United came up against Fenerbahce in the Uefa Europa League, the most expensive player in the world redeemed himself with a return of two goals.
However good anyone thinks the performance is, it is not enough if he won’t be consistent on that level. As the current most expensive footballer in the world, a whole lot more is expected from the Frenchman.
In a match that saw Jose Mourinho rest Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pogba took responsibility for United’s first spot kick of the night and he made not mistake to give United the lead.
Three minutes later in the 34th minute, Anthony Martial doubled United’s lead, again from the penalty spot.
Pogba got his second and United’s third in the 45th minute from a well-placed shot from the edge of the 18 yard area.
Jesse Lingard completed the route in the 48th minute before former United striker, Robin van Persie pulled one back for the Turkish side.
The match ended 4 – 1 and Mourinho and his men would be hoping they can replicate the performance and the result when they take on Chelsea on Sunday.
