On Tuesday evening, the University of Ibadan was shut down by the management and students were ordered to vacate the campus immediately.
It all started when students of the university staged a protest over what they considered an unnecessary victimization of a student who took part in a recent protest by the students as well as poor power and water supply in the school. Another Federal University, University of Lagos had few weeks ago witnessed similar protests.
A circular issued by the Registrar of the school, Dr. O.I. Olukoya on Tuesday evening said the management, in order to safeguard lives and properties had decided that the school should be shut down indefinitely and that students should vacate the campus immediately.
