The World Health Organization has called on Europeans to eliminate any mosquito breeding sites as there is a likelihood that Zika Virus would spread to Europe this summer.
The Black sea, coast of Russia and Georgia and the island of Madeira are the areas most at risk while France, Spain, Italy and Greece are the areas with a moderate risk.
Though the Organization has not issued any new travel advice, it has called on countries to ensure that everyone, most especially pregnant women have information on the consequences of the virus.
Dr. Zsuzsanna Jakab, at the WHO said, “we call particularly on countries at higher risk to strengthen their national capacities and prioritise the activities that will prevent a large Zika outbreak.”
