BET Africa has just announced the nominations for the 2016 “BET Awards” taking place at Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, California on Sunday 26 June.
The award recognizes the growing international appeal of African contemporary artists. In this light, eight African artists have been nominated in the BET Awards, among which includes Nigeria’s Wizkid and Yemi Alade.
Other African musicians that were nominated are South African rappers, AKA and Cassper Nyovest, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Ghana’s dancehall/R&B queen, Mzvee and Cote D’Ivoire’s Coup Decal star, Serge Beynaud.
International nomination include Drake who has the most nominations which includes Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Video of the Year, and Best Collaboration for his hit single ‘Where Ya At’ with fellow hip hop artist, Future. Beyoncé and Rihanna both got five nominations each. Beyoncé in Best Female R&B/Pop.
The Awards will be premiering across Africa on BET (DStv channel 129) on Tuesday 28 June at 7pm.
