Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is poised to join Stoke City on a season-long loan after they beat off competition from West Bromwich Albion.

The 22-year-old will, however, sign a new four year contract at Stamford Bridge before embarking on his move.

Zouma left training on Wednesday to hold talks with Stoke who retain an interest in signing Bruno Martins Indi too from Porto following his loan last season.

Stoke have concerns over Ryan Shawcross’s future and Marc Muniesa while Gianelli Imbula will be sold if they receive the right offer.

Shawcross has one year left on contract and talks over a renewal are ongoing though he could opt to go on a free next summer.

Stoke, who have rejected a £20million bid from West Ham for winger Marko Arnautovic, have signed 18-year-old Blackburn Rover winger Tre Pemberton.
